Trends come and go, but some things are meant to stay, and they do. 15 years ago, watching a tv show or a movie was so common and was the biggest consumption in the video world. Vlogs, podcasts, and other youtube videos have become a completely normal and popular thing to consume.

I’ve said it before, but the biggest reason people consume other people’s content is that they resonate with it. Vlogs and podcasts allow the creators to talk about themselves and what goes on in their life. Through this, it allows fans and users to compare themselves to these creators and ultimately become fans. For example, the biggest YouTubers always have a niche, whether it be video games, makeup, fashion, sports, etc. Through these topics and the ability to record yourself, you become easily accessible to people wanting to watch the content. The way to create more engagement is just to be a likable and trustworthy person. At the end of the day, fans want to be recognized as loyal supporters who feel appreciated.

The explosion of vlogs and podcasts will set up younger generations to engage with the internet younger and younger. An example of a young youtube star is Ryans’s Toy reviews which have amassed 34 million subscribers. Soon enough, all the kids will be looking up to YouTubers before finding out about movie and tv stars.
